Another amazing springtime has finally arrived here in the PNW. Here's a preview of what's headed to Fairweather House and Gallery in Seaside, Oregon for Seaside First Saturday Art Walk. The June show is called "Good Stuff," and it runs through the entire month. Denise Fairweather's beautiful and artistic gallery is a must-see if you are headed to the Oregon Coast any time of year.

Here's a description of each piece that will be showcased at Fairweather Gallery in June:

  1. Flower Garland Ballerina: 30" x 24" is painted in oils on deep cradled wood panel, giving it a contemporary presentation which contrasts nicely with the classical and impressionist style of the work. Pink blossoms dance around the central figure as she gazes downward in a thoughtful pose. Her black tutu gives the composition a nice grounding to its surrounding rich pastel hues.

  2. Misty Beach Morning: This 8" x 10" oil, painted en plein aire, captures the beauty and energy of the sun-filled beach at Seaside with the distant bluff veiled in morning mist. Ocean waves crash onto the shore and beach-goers have set up their blankets and umbrellas in the distance. The brushstrokes are bold, with blues, greens, and yellows dominating the canvas.

  3. Memories In The Making: This plein aire painting, also 8" x 10" captures the peacefulness of a beach in the early afternoon, with light cloud cover above the ocean and casting a diffused glow over the sand and water. The colors are soft and muted, with hues of cerulean and ultramarine expressing the texture of the receeding waves. A group of small figures in the distance hints at an open-ended narrative, drawing the viewer to complete the story with their own memories of Seaside beach visits.

  4. Seaside Beach Bungalows: Completing the Seaside plein aire trio is this 8" x 10" oil landscape. Viewers of this painting will recognize the charming beach houses clustered together along the Promenade. Each house is uniquely expressed, with varied brushwork, bright colors, and that classic craftsman bungalow style. The iconic arches of the Promenade railing and iron lamp post feature in the foreground.

  5. Places I Remember: This still life painting features a bouquet of vibrant red tulips in a silver pitcher resting on a green patterned cloth. The vibrant petals stand out against a peek of the landscape outside, their rich red color contrasting with the viridian greens in the cloth. The brushstrokes are loose and expressive, adding a sense of movement to the scene.
Overall, this collection of oil paintings showcases a variety of subjects, all with a fresh and lively energy that is sure to captivate viewers at Fairweather House & Gallery's "Good Stuff" art show. I hope to see you there!
