"Sunflowers from the Garden" 24x18 in. original oil on linen, framed $1,225.00
Are you noticing it? The longer days, even just a bit longer makes such a difference. Here in the Northwest, the cherry trees and daffodils are blooming. You might see bright yellow blooms on the Forsythia branches. Many of us are planting seeds, anticipating the flowers we'll see from them in a few months. I have added some new varieties for bouquets which will make it to the homes of friends and neighbors, as well as into my new paintings.

Along with growth in the greenhouse this year, comes growth for MJFA. This will be the first year we join the Camano Island Studio Tour and the first time we open the studio to visitors for direct art sales on site! I hope you can join us and also check out many other artists on the tour. We have about 20 studios, including a couple of galleries in the Stanwood-Camano area. For more info, click the link above, just keep in mind it's Mother's Day weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus an "Encore weekend the following Saturday-Sunday only.

The studio will be filled with paintings available to purchase on site, in a range of sizes, and we will also have a new item at the request of our friends and patrons: FINE ART GICLEE PRINTS! I have chosen a few favorite paintings to reproduce in 8x10 and 11x14 inches. When you visit, you'll notice that I've been really busy making lots of new work. I'm so excited to share it with you. Thank you so much for all of your support throughout the years. We hope to see you soon!

I'd like to try updating this space with news more frequently. Please feel free to comment below and let me know what you'd like to see here, if you have questions about the studio, the art, etc. Happy Spring, art friends!

”Tulip Festival Artists Past & Present”

Picture
I hope this finds you and your families safe and well in the face of so much uncertainty due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

The gallery spaces that I work with are temporarily closed to visitors but continue to operate via the internet. Shows are happening online, and the personnel are happy to assist when you call.

Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes is holding their annual "Tulip Festival Artists, Past & Present" exhibit, including some of my newest work, which you can view at the click of a button below. I have 10 new paintings in this show, so please take a look at MJFA portfolio, or over at Scott Milo Gallery. Kathy or Cindy are happy to answer any questions you may have.

It has been challenging to complete a painting series while continuing work on our studio/workshop, and get the garden ready for spring, but now it’s so exciting to be able to share these pieces with you. Each one has a special sentimental value from a single moment or from the memory of a special experience. I hope you find the new paintings uplifting to your day as we go through these unprecedented times.

Very best wishes,

Melissa

If you have a yearning to experience the beautiful Oregon Coast in the summertime, try to get to Seaside on the first weekend of the month. The art galleries of Seaside, all within walking distance, offer a great art walk on the first Saturday of each month. The galleries are located in the historic Gilbert District and there are several wonderful restaurants and cafes for your enjoyment. If you can't make it to the show, but are interested in one of these paintings, see "Fairweather Gallery 2019" on the portfolio page. Prices are included, as well as the phone number to contact Denise Fairweather. She is a delight, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I hope you'll stop in at Fairweather House and Gallery at 612 Broadway and take in the group show "Outside Interests," featuring yours truly, along with several artists, we always have live music, refreshments and artist talks. It all kicks off Saturday August 3 at 5pm. Let's go to the beach!
