I love the Pacific Northwest dearly, but around February or March, we have been under dense cloud cover, with crisp temperatures and many drippy days in a row. While it provides the cleanest air you can breathe, and unbelievably beautiful landscape, we get a bit vitamin-D deprived around this time. Thankfully a trip to sunny California was just the ticket. Disneyland, Universal Studios and beaches provided so much fun. Whenever I go someplace new, I try to find an art gallery or several. It's a fun kind of treasure hunt. I had no idea what would be waiting there, but remembered that there was a plein aire competition with Laguna in the name. If you have been to Laguna Beach, then you know what is there, but I didn't. Imagine the happy surprise on discovering about 100 galleries along the coast there in Laguna! A favorite discovery was the Alice-Rice Gallery, a friendly member gallery with super-cool pieces, and friendly owners. Another favorite was the Marc Whitney Gallery. Oh wow, I just wanted to move in and live in that place. He does such beautiful work.
